The THEIAXR project will integrate, demonstrate and validate the developed technologies and methodologies in pre-defined use cases and demonstrators, which represent different scenarios and applications in the off-highway domain.

Three different application domains have been selected that pose various challenging tasks and environments for the human operator controlling the machinery. All machines within the use cases are high-tech machines, requiring much experience controlling them and the continuous attention of the operator.
The three use cases cover the domains of snow grooming, logistics, and construction, targeting the control of typical machines in these domains.

Use cases

Snow grooming

Supply the operator with the needed information in the best possible and digestible way, to drive and control the machine with sensor and visualization assistance in a complete “whiteout” (no view of the environment possible).

Logistics

Support of remote operation of harbor cranes by providing the human operator better perception of the task at hand and its context, which can vary from task to task. We will investigate how digital experience can support the human operator.

Construction

Provision of interfaces to the operator for handling digital design models and their implementation efficiently and safely. The usage of mixed-reality technologies will aid the human operator in controlling the machine.
